Effective Microorganisms (EM®) were created in 1980 by Dr. Teruo Higa.

Our collars are hand-woven using Canadian-made 550 Paracord, woven from North American-made fibres. Our collars come in a wide range of <a href=”https://tickemdown.com/colour-gallery/” target=”_blank”>colours</a> Originally created using naturally found micro-organisms in the ground, as an effective way to reduce the amount of chemical and inorganic fertilizers and toxins in the agricultural industry. Dr. Higa was seeking ways to grow food sustainably over 40 years ago. EM®’s were soon found to be beneficial in a wide range of applications including improvement in the quality of drinking water. Among the many applications which were found, was the ability to create far infrared waves which create an avoidance of ticks to bite the wearer. This reduces the need for synthetic chemicals for the control of lice and ticks in dogs and cats. Their natural elements reduce the risk of negative interactions with domestic pets which need to wear the beads at all times in order to build up their effectiveness. EM® beads are non-toxic to handle, and thus are safe for animals and children, but may present a choking hazard if swallowed.

Activate Your Collar!

For the most effective use of your Tick EM Down collar, it must be activated before use. Please soak your whole collar in water for 1-2 hours then allow it to dry in full sun until completely dry. Your dog must wear his collar for 24 hrs a day; full tick control will occur after about 4 weeks. Please keep your collar clean by washing under clear water only, and sundry every few weeks. Do not use soap, but you can use a soft nail brush to remove dirt. Your collar may get wet, but please remove it if bathing your pet with shampoos. Please remember no tick control Is 100% guaranteed to keep your pet free of ticks, each animal responds differently to chemical or non-chemical means of pest control.
